Dear Donors,
The devastation of the First and Second World Wars led to the loss of millions of lives and forced millions more to flee their homes in search of safety. After 1990, despite claims of a stable world order and the end of war, ongoing unresolved conflicts became increasingly chronic, deepening a humanitarian crisis severe enough to risk sparking a third world war.
The global developments following the COVID-19 pandemic affected more than just health and economic fields. Africa, the Middle East, and Latin America, already fragile before 2020, continued to weaken, while Europe chose to fortify its borders and focus on its interests. In this context, humanitarian aid became even more crucial. The Palestinian issue worsened in the 2000s, and the Arab Spring, beginning in 2010, caused instability in many countries. Conflicts in Yemen, Libya, and Syria led to millions of deaths and displaced populations. Many people risked their lives to move to other countries for survival. Additionally, low living standards and internal conflicts in African countries like Sudan, Nigeria, and Chad increased the need for humanitarian aid.
Humanitarian aid is a crucial area that requires careful attention to implementation methods, economic resource use, communication, and donor-beneficiary relationships. Recognizing the sensitivity of these dynamics, we, at Global Humanitarian Response (GHR) embarked on this journey. Our primary goal is to ensure that the aid entrusted to us by our donors reaches its recipients accurately and with dignity. We also aim to provide sustainable services to our beneficiaries, helping them achieve self-reliance. Today, we view this goal as a heavy yet valuable responsibility, one we continue to carry with dedication.
Thanks to your support, we work with all our strength to achieve our goal by focusing on needs, regardless of language, religion, race, or region, striving to bring a sincere smile to the face of anyone, anywhere in the world.
Sincerely,
Furkan Terzi
Chairman
